Mimosa Pudica, Sensitive Plant Seeds
We are in love with these highly entertaining and delicate plants from the legume family. Mimosa Pudica aka Sensitive Plant, Shy Plant or Touch-me-not is a fantastic houseplant and fun addition to any home as a wonderful way to experience the lifecycle of a plant firsthand. When grown from seed, these green blooming babies thrive in bright light with fairly consistent watering.
Mimosa grow wild throughout many tropical and subtropical landscapes but we are fascinated by them as a houseplant. Since mimosa tend to live for two years before going to seed, we have an opportunity to learn more about our natural world inside our home, which is where we recommend you grow these medicinal babes. Yes, they are also medicinal!
Mimosa pudica is used in many places in the world as a medicine. The entire plant—roots, stem, leaves, flowers and seeds can be used for a variety of natural remedies. We’ll share more in our upcoming blog post!
*Each pack contains 25 organically grown seeds
How to grow: To germinate you must first scarify the mimosa seed. Do this by gently rubbing them against sandpaper or a nail file to the remove the hard outer coating. After scarifying go ahead and place seeds into a glass of warm water and allow to soak overnight. Then sow your seeds 1/4 deep, water and keep warm under bright lights or in full sun. Your mimosa should sprout within 2-3 weeks!
