Plant care is self care. Turn another chore around the house into a ritual that benefits you and your plants.
Whether you are dealing with pests or just feeling the need to create a therapeutic routine for yourself, we're here to inspire that practice. We understand how it can be frustrating to discover pests on your plants (or rediscover them after you thought they were gone) and know how it can feel stressful and confusing.
But taking care of our precious plants can be an opportunity to slow down, a time to unwind and reconnect with the natural world. Carve out space to create a therapeutic hour to be with your plants, pour yourself a cup something nourishing to sip on, and slowly walk around observing, noticing details and simply allowing space to reconnect with our natural world.
What exactly is a Sacred Plant Ritual and its benefits?
A Sacred Plant Ritual is intentional plant care, an invitation to slow down and focus on your plants and their needs the same way you would for yourself or a loved one. The plants we care for are extensions of ourselves, so taking the time to thoughtfully nurture them actually nourishes us too.
Remember, we are Nature.
On watering days, taking a stroll in your sacred space (indoor or out) carefully observing your plants. We love to whip up a tonic latte for ourselves first and slowly moving through this ritual of plant care, tea in hand feels so rejuvenating. We often sip on the same botanicals that feed our plants too! Herbs such as tulsi, alfalfa, nettle, raspberry leaf, fenugreek, and star anise are infused into Sacred Tonics and also in our herbal teas. Here are two ideas to inspire your next tea and tonic ritual!
MATCHA TEA RECIPE:
Starting with steeping your favorite tea (we like to infuse 1-2 teaspoons of our Herbal Chai or Sacred Sip). Steep in hot water for 10 minutes, Cover while steeping to keep in the botanical medicine! Strain and then add 1tbsp of raw cream, 1-2 tbsp maple syrup, 2 tsp matcha powder, & a pinch of salt. Blend on high for about 15 seconds, pour, and enjoy. Equally energizing and grounding, this latte makes for the perfect midday plant care pick-me-up.
Alternatively, a more rich coffee-like latte can be created using the same base botanicals as our tonics. This is our heart opening cacao recipe featuring peppermint, tulsi, red clover, and nettle among others.
HEART OPENING TEA RECIPE:
Starting with a base of tea, we infuse 1-2 teaspoons Sacred Sip Tea or you can use your favorite herbal tea, steeped for 10 minutes in 8 oz of hot water. Be sure to cover the tea while steeping to keep in all that botanical goodness! Strain. Add 1 tbsp raw cacao powder, 1 tbsp maca powder, 1-2 tbsp raw cream, and 1-2 tbsp maple syrup. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on medium until frothy!
Now for creating a saponin rich plant latte!
We like to whip up a batch of Sacred Soil Tonic in the blender to create a creamy latte for our plant babies. This can also be done just using a 1 gallon jug, leave some room to activate the saponins (bubbles) to get nice and foamy.
This plant latte gives plants a nutritional boost straight through the soil and roots to help them grow stronger, faster, and with more vitality over time. Our tonics also contain extracts of neem which work to simultaneously treat + ward off pests while feeding soil microbes!
Sip your own tonic latte and enjoy the sensory experience as the sound of saponins sink into the soil creating radiant health from the inside out. To learn more about the ingredients and their medicinal preterites, check out our Tonics blog posts.
We give thanks and honor these botanicals for the healing they offer humans and plants alike. After all, we are Nature, so this is a way of sending gratitude to ourselves too!
With love,
