Gnats are an annoying but rather harmless and a completely treatable part of plant parenthood. We can help you mange them naturally while stimulating plant growth and immunity!
5 Steps to manage Fungus Gnats and give your plants a growth and immune boost at the same time!
Step 1. Stop watering your plants for about a week to allow the top few inches of soil to dry out. It's best to do this with all your plants at the same time so you can treat them all and not just the visibly infested plants as fungus gnats fly around easily infecting new plants. They are sneaky!
After the topsoil has dried, remove the top two inches of soil by gently scraping away the soil and throw it away! This method is an important step in removing the fungus gnat larvae that grow inside the soil before they become flying adults.
Step 2. Apply tiny strips of Sticky fly paper to the inside lip of the pots. While this is not cruelty free as gnats get stuck and die slowly, it is the quickest way to get ahead of a full blown infestation.
We recommend cutting the paper into small strips and placing them inside the pot, with the bottom edge touching the soil, just under the inside lip of each pot. This way, the aesthetic of your houseplant is intact while the fly paper inconspicuously traps the adult gnats as they fly around the soil.
Step 3. Apply a double dose (4 teaspoons per gallon) of Sacred Soil Tonic when watering for the next few months. Be sure to give the mixed up bottle a good shake to create a super foamy soil bath which helps to smother the larvae and disrupt adult gnat reproduction. Be sure your plants are getting plenty of natural or grow light exposure to soak up and properly use these beneficial nutrients!
This process takes three applications (3-4weeks) to completely rid your plants of fungus gnats. While it slowly but surely rids your plants of fungus gnat larvae, our Sacred Soil Tonic also nourishes the growth of your plant while boosting immunity to help avoid any future infestations.
Continue this routine for one month every time you water and then taper off to the normal recommended dosage of two 2 teaspoons per gallon every time you water.
