Goodbye fungus gnats! Hello healthier plant!
Are fungus gnats flying around your home driving you a bit mad? They can be annoying but are rather harmless and completely treatable.
Here's how to manage them naturally while stimulating plant growth and immunity at the same time!
3 Steps to manage Fungus Gnats and give your plants a growth and immune boost at the same time!
Step 1. Stop watering your plants and remove top soil
If you have many plants, try to find the main source and remove and discard the topsoil of that plant, but ideally scrape off the top two inches of soil from all plants if possible!
Then, for about a week, allow the top few inch of soil to dry out. It's best to do this with all your plants at the same time, not just the visibly infected ones. Once they have dried out you can begin to treat them with a double dose (four teaspoons per gallon of water) of our Sacred Soil Tonic which not only smoothers any remaining larvae but also boosts the growth and immunity of your plant!
Step 2. Set a trap before they attack
Apply tiny strips of Sticky fly paper to the inside lip of the pots. While this is not cruelty free as gnats get stuck and die slowly, it is the quickest way to get ahead of a full blown infestation.
Pro tip: Stretch your dollar while still getting results.
Cutting the paper into small strips and placing them inside the pot, with the bottom edge touching the soil, just under the inside lip of each pot. This way, the aesthetic of your houseplant is intact while the fly paper inconspicuously traps the adult gnats before they can fly to other plants.
Step 3. Continue to apply a double dose (4 teaspoons per gallon) of Sacred Soil Tonic at each watering for the next month. Give the mix a good shake to create a super foamy soil bath which helps to smother the larvae and disrupt adult gnat reproduction. Slowly pour the foamy mixture over the soil.
*Be sure your plants are getting plenty of natural or grow light exposure to soak up and properly use these beneficial nutrients!
